SAY IT OUT LOUD: Students who are interested in entering the school's writing contest, Say it Out Loud, are asked to submit a 500 word opinion essay to Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 by the end of the month. Win a gift certificate to Chapters. (JS – Oct 28)
SPIRIT WEEK!! OCTOBER 24 – 28 & 31: Monday is Comfy Day. Wear your sweats, socks and sandals and be comfy. Tuesday is Opposite Day. Wear your clothes inside out and backwards. Wednesday is Anti-Halloween Day. Represent any holiday BUT Halloween eg: Christmas, St. Pat’s, Easter). Thursday is Harry Potter Day. Turn our school into Hogwarts! Friday is Black vs Orange Day. 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS 
HALLOWEEN DANCE: The dance will take place the afternoon of October 28th. Tickets for this event will be sold Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for $2. You can buy your tickets through your homeroom teacher. Make sure to bring spare change to the dance since there will be an opportunity to buy tickets to win lots of great prizes! See you there in your black and orange attire! (AJ –Oct 26)
MANGA CLUB: Next meeting is Wednesday in the Learning Commons at the start of lunch. Newcomers are welcome. (CHV –Oct 26)
GAME CLUB: If you are interested in joining the Game Club, please drop by the Library/Learning Commons on Thursday at the start of lunch. Bring your lunch. The club includes both board and X-box games. (CHV –Oct 27)
READ -A- THON: Mother Teresa Learning Commons will be hosting the Grade 7/8 Read-A-Thon on November 3, 2011. This fun day of reading, guest speakers and prizes is open to any Grade 7 and 8 students. Pledge sheets are available in the Learning Commons. (CHV –Oct 28)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING: There will be an important meeting on Tuesday Oct 25th at the start of lunch in room 208. All runners planning to attend the next meet must attend. Reminder to keep running in preparation for the National Capitals on Thursday. (KP –Oct 25)
STE-ANNE AND LE MASSIF SKI TRIP: There will be a short meeting on Tuesday October 25th at 11:45 am in room 103 for all high school students interested in the Ste-Anne/Le Massif Skit Trip in February. Get your snowboards and skis waxed and ready. (MF – Oct 25)
SR. BOYS VOLLEYBALL: There is a home game Tuesday October 18th against Notre Dame, another home game on Thursday October 20th against Holy Trinity. On Monday October 24 there is an away game at Ridgemount and a home game on Thursday October 27th and our last game for the regular season is at home Tuesday November 1st against St Pius. If you cannot attend please advise Mlle McMurchy in room 233 or M. Atkinson. (EM- Oct -27)

HIGH SCHOOL INTRAMURALS: The next Intramural Activity will be Co-ed Dodgeball. Sign-up sheets are available on the bulletin board outside the wood floor gym. Team entries must be to Mr. Liska by Friday, October 28. (JL –Oct 28)

STUDENT SERVICES 
ALGONQUIN COLLEGE OPEN HOUSE: On Thursday, November 3rd Student Services is providing a bus for 40 Grade 12 students interested in finding out about all that the college has to offer. You will have the opportunity to talk to professors and check out the vast array of programs. Student's will leave M.T. at 8:40 am and return at 1:30 pm. FATHER JESSI AND ST. ANDREW'S PARISH WELCOMES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO VOLUNTEER IN THE CHURCH: Require help with set up Saturdays from 3:00 pm to 4:15pm, sometimes longer. Once a month (last Saturday of the month) there is baptism set up in the atrium and we need help with chair set up. Students need to show up at 3pm and they will be put to work setting up chairs, tables or the sound system if they know how to set up this equipment. (KW –Oct 26)
VICTORIA QUILTS CLUB: The Victoria Quilts Club will meet Tuesday, October 25th and Thursday, October 27th from 3pm to 4:30pm in the library. All are welcome. It's fun and easy and a great way to get your community service hours while helping a great cause. For more information, please see Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services. (KW –Oct 27)
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR INFLUENZA CLINIC: The Ottawa Public Health Influenza Immunization Campaign is underway and looking for student volunteers to assist the clinic staff with set up, displays, greeting people, giving out forms, helping with the survey, etc. We have a flu clinic at our school on Wednesday, November 30th. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: www.volunteerottawa.ca/youth is a new website geared towards students volunteering in the Ottawa area and accumulating their 40 hours. Click the GO! Volunteer tab to search for volunteer opportunities. There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year. At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements. We ask that you make it a habit to stop in to Student Services and check out what is available. (JH –Oct 28)
SHAD VALLEY SUMMER PROGRAM: Something different to do this summer. Shad Valley, Summer 2012 (July 1-July 27). Shad Valley is a four-week summer enrichment experience for students in Grades 10, 11 and 12. Download an application today at www.shad.ca/apply. SOW GOOD SALE (NOT YOUR GRANNIE'S CHURCH BAZAAR!). On Saturday November 12th, the doors at Community Bible Church (1600 Stittsville Main Street, www.cbcstittsville.com) will open at 9 AM sharp to reveal a treasure trove of unique and handmade items for sale. Just in time for Christmas, come by and browse through a wide array of items! Also offered is a kids-only shopping zone (for kids ten and under) with all items going for a loonie or twonie, as well as an on-site cafe with snacks and meals served up at ring side tables. For a sneak peak of some of the items that will be up for grabs at the sale, please go to www.cbcstittsville.com/home/news/sowgoodsale. All this is to benefit the village of Seje, Kenya, Africa (part of the drought stricken area), in a partnership that has already seen 31 orphans getting two meals a day as they await their first day of school in January.
