DOOR DECORATING IS BACK! Hey Titans! With Halloween around the corner, it’s time for our door decorating contest! So bring your Halloween decorations in on Monday morning and get your homeroom door looking nice and spooky! (MM –Oct 28)
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: Help Mrs. Zivkovic's class raise money for Operation Christmas Child. Guess the number of candies in the jar outside of the cafeteria during lunch on Thursday and Friday and win two tickets to the Cineplex Odeon Theatre. Tickets are 50 cents each or 3 for 1.00. AUTHOR PRESENTATION: If you would like to attend the Eric Walters presentation in the Learning Commons/Library on Friday from 9:00--10:30, please pick up a pass in the Learning Commons. (CHV –Oct 28)

IT'S WASTE REDUCTION WEEK HERE AT MT! Let's all be conscious to pack a waste free lunch and make sure to use our compost and recycle bins when needed! (SR –Oct 28)
ATTENTION MT!! Our school is entered in a nationwide video contest and we're doing it up BIG! If you want to be in our Waste Reduction FLASH MOB on Thursday after school, please show up to the atrium to participate. It all starts at 3:00! No dance experience necessary! (SR –Oct 28)
SPIRIT WEEK!! OCTOBER 24 – 28 & 31: Monday is Comfy Day. Wear your sweats, socks and sandals and be comfy. Tuesday is Opposite Day. Wear your clothes inside out and backwards. Wednesday is Anti-Halloween Day. Represent any holiday BUT Halloween eg: Christmas, St. Pat’s, Easter). Thursday is Harry Potter Day. Turn our school into Hogwarts! Friday is Black vs Orange Day. Wear your Halloween colours. Halloween Monday, dress in your costume. (Masks are NOT allowed). (MM –Oct 31)
BASIC POWER YOGA: One Month Yoga session Nov 1st to Nov 29th. Every Tuesday 3:00-4:00 PM, in the Dance Studio. Have fun playing around with over 600 poses as you build strength, tone your muscles, decrease stress, increase flexibility, and work on your balance. Email: julierollwagen@rogers.com to register before Nov 1st. Leave your name, email and phone number. Minimum of 10 students required for session to run. Cost is $30.00 for 7 classes. ($6.00/class). 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS 
READ -A- THON: Mother Teresa Learning Commons will be hosting the Grade 7/8 Read-A-Thon on November 3, 2011. This fun day of reading, guest speakers and prizes is open to any Grade 7 and 8 students. Pledge sheets are available in the Learning Commons. (CHV –Oct 28)
RED MAPLE CLUB: Next meeting is Friday, October 28 at the start of lunch. Meeting takes place in the Learning Commons/Library and newcomers are welcome. (CHV –Oct 28)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
HIGH SCHOOL INTRAMURALS: The next Intramural Activity will be Co-ed Dodgeball. Sign-up sheets are available on the bulletin board outside the wood floor gym. Team entries must be to Mr. Liska by Friday, October 28. (JL –Oct 28)
LONDON TRIP: It is not too late to join in this once in a lifetime trip! You have up to 99 days before departure in March to register. Why wait? Come on by Rm 138 for details! (JS –Oct 28)
CURLING TEAM: The final tryout/practice will take place on Wednesday Nov 2 at the Nepean Sportsplex. We will be leaving MT at 2:30pm. All those attending must confirm with Miss K by Wednesday morning! The season starts the following week! (CK –Nov 2)
RETURN TO VIMY 2012: There is an important meeting Wednesday, November 2nd at 11:30 in Student Services for those students participating in the Return to Vimy 2012 trip. (MP –Nov 2)
STUDENT SERVICES 
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR INFLUENZA CLINIC: The Ottawa Public Health Influenza Immunization Campaign is underway and looking for student volunteers to assist the clinic staff with set up, displays, greeting people, giving out forms, helping with the survey, etc. We have a flu clinic at our school on Wednesday, November 30th. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: www.volunteerottawa.ca/youth is a new website geared towards students volunteering in the Ottawa area and accumulating their 40 hours. Click the GO! Volunteer tab to search for volunteer opportunities. There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year. At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements. We ask that you make it a habit to stop in to Student Services and check out what is available. (JH –Oct 28)
SHAD VALLEY SUMMER PROGRAM: Something different to do this summer. Shad Valley, Summer 2012 (July 1-July 27). Shad Valley is a four-week summer enrichment experience for students in Grades 10, 11 and 12. Download an application today at www.shad.ca/apply. MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCE NIGHT: On November 3rd, between 2:30 - 7:00, we are hosting our Mental Health Resource Night. Please stop by to check out the available community resources on your way home from work, or while waiting for your interview times with your child's grade 7/8 teachers. (MP –Nov 3)
SOW GOOD SALE (NOT YOUR GRANNIE'S CHURCH BAZAAR!). On Saturday November 12th, the doors at Community Bible Church (1600 Stittsville Main Street, www.cbcstittsville.com) will open at 9 AM sharp to reveal a treasure trove of unique and handmade items for sale. Just in time for Christmas, come by and browse through a wide array of items! Also offered is a kids-only shopping zone (for kids ten and under) with all items going for a loonie or twonie, as well as an on-site cafe with snacks and meals served up at ring side tables. For a sneak peak of some of the items that will be up for grabs at the sale, please go to www.cbcstittsville.com/home/news/sowgoodsale. All this is to benefit the village of Seje, Kenya, Africa (part of the drought stricken area), in a partnership that has already seen 31 orphans getting two meals a day as they await their first day of school in January.
