THE TERRY FOX FUNDRAISING “BATTLE” IS ON! The collection box will be in the atrium every morning waiting for your cash. Please give generously, but strategically, so that your class can win the points' competition and/or the contest for the most money raised. Rules are posted on the box if you forgot which money is positive and which money is negative. Good luck Titans! (NBD –Sep 21)
SPIRIT WEEK FALL 2011: Our first spirit week of the year begins next week! Here is the schedule:
Monday – PJ Day – 'cause it's Monday.
Tuesday – Employee of the Month Day – wear your work uniform, or dress like a worker.
Wednesday – Blast from the Past Day – raid your parents' closet.
Thursday – Titan Pride Day - dress up in your Titan gear and our school colours (blue and white).
Friday – Twin Day – you and your BFF can look just the same – triplets work too. (NBD –Sep 23)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING: 7/8 students interested in Cross Country Running are asked to sign up outside of the 7/8 Phys Ed offices. Practice dates will be listed underneath the sign up sheet. See Mr. MacCuaig if you have any questions. (MM –Sep 20)
7/8 ULTIMATE: There will be a 7/8 ultimate meeting at lunch in room 234 on Wednesday. Please bring your lunch. (SS –Sep 21)
REACH FOR THE TOP IS BACK!!!!! Brush away all those summer cobwebs with the quiz game called REACH FOR THE TOP!!! Bring your lunch to Room 235 on Thursday, September 22 at the beginning of 7/8 lunch and participate!!! New members are always welcome!! (TC –Sep 22)
INTERESTED IN ART? The Grade 7/8 art club, The Art Circle, will be meeting once a week during lunch. Interested Grade 7 and 8 students are invited to meet at the beginning of lunch in room 331 on Friday, September 23rd. (GG –Sep 23)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
NEW YORK CITY – May 2012: Are you interested in seeing one of the world's most exciting cities? Want to see a Broadway show? How about two? The Statue of Liberty? Trump Tower? Central Park? Canal Street? The 9/11 memorial? Our four day trip includes all of the above and more! If you would like to learn more, come to room 138 during lunch on Tuesday, September 20th to grab an information sheet and permission form. This trip is open to all senior students (grades 11 and 12 only). (NBD –Sep 20)
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING: All High School students interested in cross country running are asked to come out for our first run on Thursday Sept 22 at 3:00 p.m outside room 117. Students should be changed and in running shoes ready to go. If you missed the meeting on Monday, please see Ms. Pipkins in Room 208 to sign up. All high school students are welcome. (KP –Sep 22)
M.T.S.A.I.D (MOTHER TERESA STUDENTS AGAINST IMPAIRED DRIVING): Do you want to gain leadership experience while raising awareness about an important cause that affects too many youth? Then please join us for a brief meeting in room 209 on Wednesday September 28th at the beginning of lunch. New members welcome. (MK –Sep 28)

SCHOOL RINGS: A representative from Jostens Rings will be here on Monday, September 19th and Tuesday, September 20th during senior lunch time. Come and see the beautiful collection of rings. Booklets will be available in Student Services for pick up. Now is the time to start thinking about school rings, not just grad rings. (KW –Sep 20)
STUDY AND GO ABROAD FAIR: Ottawa Convention Centre, Trillium Ballroom Thursday Sept 29 from 1pm to 6pm. This free expo is an opportunity to learn about opportunities for studying overseas and in Canada and the US, as well as plan for gap year travel (volunteering, working abroad, language programs and internships). We have a great line-up of exhibitors in Ottawa - over 60 from around the world - including universities from the USA, Canada, Australia, England, Ireland, Korea, Hong Kong, Fiji, Sweden and Switzerland. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HARVEST DINNER: Volunteers are needed for Harvest Dinner at St. Patrick’s Parish, on Sunday, September 25th from 3pm to 8pm. Choose a shift of at least 2 1/2 hours. You will help with serving pie, resetting tables for the 2nd sitting just to list a few tasks. You will not be alone; you will be placed with an adult. QUILTS! We have a unique opportunity for students to earn their volunteer hours right here at our school! Victoria’s Quilts Canada is a non-profit organization making quilts for people with Cancer living anywhere in Canada. Demand for these quilts has increased dramatically in the past few years. Victoria’s Quilts is looking for students. Both boys and girls can help to tie and finish the quilts. Sewing skills are not required. Please sign up in Student Services. (KW –Sep 30)

Volunteer tab to search for Volunteer opportunities. There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year. At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements. GRADE 12 UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE INFO: Grade 12's - The counselors will be visiting the grade 12 classes starting Thursday Sept 22 to discuss the application process for College and University. The following schools will be visiting MT to speak to the grade 12's: Carleton U Sept 29 at 10:00, Queen's Oct 5 at 12:30, Ottawa U Oct 6 at 9:00, Algonquin Oct 12 at 12:30, St FX Oct 21 at lunch, and Trent U Oct 26 at 2:00.
