TERRY FOX WALK – SCHEDULE:
| Period One: | Staggered call down of Grade 7 & 8 classes. |
| Period Two: | Staggered call down of High School classes beginning with Gr. 12 and working backwards. |
- Students will be given freezies at the end of the walk, as part of the event.
- Grade 7 & 8 classes will return to class close to the beginning of period two (7 & 8 schedule).
- High School students will have an extended lunch. (PG –Sep 22)

THE TERRY FOX FUNDRAISING “BATTLE” IS ALMOST OVER! The collection box will be in the atrium this morning waiting for your last minute cash attacks. SPIRIT WEEK FALL 2011: Our first spirit week of the year begins next week! Here is the schedule:
Monday – PJ Day – 'cause it's Monday.
Tuesday – Employee of the Month Day – wear your work uniform, or dress like a worker.
Wednesday – Blast from the Past Day – raid your parents' closet.
Thursday – Titan Pride Day - dress up in your Titan gear and our school colours (blue and white).
Friday – Twin Day – you and your BFF can look just the same – triplets work too. (NBD –Sep 23)

REACH FOR THE TOP IS BACK!!!!! Brush away all those summer cobwebs with the quiz game called REACH FOR THE TOP!!! Bring your lunch to Room 235 on Thursday, September 22 at the beginning of 7/8 lunch and participate!!! New members are always welcome!! (TC –Sep 22)
INTERESTED IN ART? The Grade 7/8 art club, The Art Circle, will be meeting once a week during lunch. Interested Grade 7 and 8 students are invited to meet at the beginning of lunch in room 331 on Friday, September 23rd. (GG –Sep 23)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
COSTA RICA 2012: Attention all gr. 11 and 12 students attending the Costa Rica Adventure Trip this March Break - there is a very important meeting TODAY - Thursday, Sept. 22nd in room 203 at the beginning of lunch. There is still space for more people if you'd like to join; please see Mrs. Ragaisis if you're interested. (SR –Sep 22)
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING: All High School students interested in cross country running are asked to come out for our first run on Thursday Sept 22 at 3:00 p.m outside room 117. Students should be changed and in running shoes ready to go. If you missed the meeting on Monday, please see Ms. Pipkins in Room 208 to sign up. All high school students are welcome. (KP –Sep 22)
MANGA CLUB: Meeting at lunch in Rm 138 on Thursday, September 22nd. New members always welcome. (JS –Sep 22)
HELPERS FOR INTRAMURALS: Any high school students interested in assisting with the intramural program are asked to see Mrs. Cooper sometime this week. Responsibilities will include setting up equipment and keeping score at games during the lunch hour. Great way to earn community service hours (if you need them), and make a positive contribution to the MT community. (MC –Sep 23)
HIGH SCHOOL INTRAMURALS SIGN UP: Intramurals are getting under way and sign ups are beginning for Co-ed Volleyball. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board outside the wood floor gym. Sheets are to be returned to Mr. Liska by Tuesday, Sept. 27th. (JL –Sep 27)
LONDON 2012: Students planning to go on the London, England trip in March of 2012 are asked to come to a short meeting at lunch on Wednesday, September 28 in Rm 138. (JS –Sep 28)
SR. BOYS VOLLEYBALL: There are practices immediately after school in the wood floor gym on Monday September 26th and Wednesday September 28th. If you cannot attend please advise Mlle McMurchy (room 233, 7-8 wing) or M. Atkinson. (EM –Sep 28)
M.T.S.A.I.D (MOTHER TERESA STUDENTS AGAINST IMPAIRED DRIVING): Do you want to gain leadership experience while raising awareness about an important cause that affects too many youth? Then please join us for a brief meeting in room 209 on Wednesday September 28th at the beginning of lunch. New members welcome. (MK –Sep 28)
HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL:
- Junior Boys Basketball Team Tryouts begin Monday night, September 26th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in the wood floor gym and continue on Tuesday, September 27th and Friday, September 30th at 3:00 - 4:30 PM. Please see Mr. Rowley if you have any questions or concerns in room 136.
- Senior Boys Basketball Team Tryouts begin Monday night, September 26th from 7:30 - 9:00 PM in the wood floor gym and continue tentatively on Friday, September 30th at 4:30 - 6:00 PM (depending on football team schedule). WRITING CONTESTS: Please see Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 for information regarding TWO writing contests: Remembrance Day Literary Contest and the Poetry Contest run by Young Writers of Canada. (JS –Sep 30)
NEW YORK CITY 2012: Students who took information packages and permission forms are reminded to return the permission form and the deposit by September 30 at the latest. This is a very strict timeline. 48 students are needed to run the trip. (JS –Sep 30)
STUDENT SERVICES 
STUDY AND GO ABROAD FAIR: Ottawa Convention Centre, Trillium Ballroom Thursday Sept 29 from 1pm to 6pm. This free expo is an opportunity to learn about opportunities for studying overseas and in Canada and the US, as well as plan for gap year travel (volunteering, working abroad, language programs and internships). We have a great line-up of exhibitors in Ottawa - over 60 from around the world - including universities from the USA, Canada, Australia, England, Ireland, Korea, Hong Kong, Fiji, Sweden and Switzerland. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HARVEST DINNER: Volunteers are needed for Harvest Dinner at St. Patrick’s Parish, on Sunday, September 25th from 3pm to 8pm. Choose a shift of at least 2 1/2 hours. You will help with serving pie, resetting tables for the 2nd sitting just to list a few tasks. You will not be alone; you will be placed with an adult. OTTAWA POLICE VENTURERS RECRUITMENT INFORMATION NIGHT is Wednesday, September 28th, 2011 from 7 pm – 8 pm at 101 Centrepointe Drive, Ottawa. Ben Franklin Place (Chambers). If you are 14 to 18 years of age and attending a secondary school and interested in learning more about policing, being part of a dynamic team and helping your community, then you should consider joining the Ottawa Police Venturers. QUILTS! We have a unique opportunity for students to earn their volunteer hours right here at our school! Victoria’s Quilts Canada is a non-profit organization making quilts for people with Cancer living anywhere in Canada. Demand for these quilts has increased dramatically in the past few years. Victoria’s Quilts is looking for students. Both boys and girls can help to tie and finish the quilts. Sewing skills are not required. Please sign up in Student Services. (KW –Sep 30)
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

Volunteer tab to search for Volunteer opportunities. There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year. At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements. GRADE 12 UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE INFO: Grade 12's - The counselors will be visiting the grade 12 classes starting Thursday Sept 22 to discuss the application process for College and University. The following schools will be visiting MT to speak to the grade 12's: Carleton U Sept 29 at 10:00, Queen's Oct 5 at 12:30, Ottawa U Oct 6 at 9:00, Algonquin Oct 12 at 12:30, St FX Oct 21 at lunch, and Trent U Oct 26 at 2:00.
