Saturday February 12^th, is Darwin Day! (MD –Feb 11)

YOGA: The drop in Yoga classes will start again Monday February 7^th from 3:05-4:05 PM. Classes will run on Mondays throughout February. $5.00 fee for each drop in class. Come on out! (JR –Feb 28)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

ATTENTION GRADE 7 & 8 STUDENTS TRYING OUT FOR BADMINTON: The official try-out schedule is as follows:

Grade 7 Students Only: Wednesday, February 9^th 7:30 AM

Grade 8 Girls Only: Thursday, February 10^th 7:30 AM

Grade 8 Boys Only: Friday, February 11^th 7:30 AM

All: Friday, February 11^th 3 – 5 PM

Location: Cafeteria Gym. Speak to Mrs. Jewitt if unable to attend your try-out. (AJ –Feb 11)

7/8 ATHLETES: If you have played on one of the following teams this year, and paid your athletic fee, please see your PE teacher to pick up your Titan T-Shirt!

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

VALENTINES OUTREACH: Grade 12 students participating in the Valentine Outreach project are asked to be present at Longfield's Manor on Beatrice by 12:00 sharp today. You are expected to walk to the Manor on your own. (KL –Feb 11)

EUROPE TRIP: There will be a meeting for those students participating in the trip to London, Paris and the Alps on Friday Feb. 11 at lunch in room 201. (AB –Feb 11)

IMPROV TEAM: HS students interested in having fun with improvisation are asked to meet in Rm 138 at lunch on Monday, Feb. 14. (JS –Feb 14)

CAPPIES: Important meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at lunch in Rm 138. Please see Mrs. Simpson or A. if you cannot attend. (JS –Feb 16)

STRATFORD 2011: Please pick up a permission form and a letter from Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 if you plan to go on the Stratford trip next October. The letter gives you all of the necessary information about the plays and the cost. (JS –Feb 16)

SAY IT OUT LOUD: Short Story winner for December is C. S.! Congratulations. Postcard fiction winner will be announced next week. The contest for February is YOUR CHOICE -- poem, story, essay, whatever! Keep the length to 500 words. Submit your writing to Rm 138 by the end of the month!! (JS –Feb 25)

STUDENT SERVICES

WINTER FAMILY FUN DAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Looking for volunteers for Winter Family Fun Day organized by Havenlea Chapman Mills Community Association (HCMCA at www.hcmca.ca). We are looking for 12-15 volunteers on Saturday Feb 12th, 2011 from 9:00am -2:00pm. They will help to set up and clean up as well as supervise activities and games. DRIVER’S ED: Driver Education Program Information and Registration Forms for Winter 2011 are in Student Services. Students may register either by mailing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road), or by having a parent call 613 228-3338 to register with Visa or MasterCard payment. Open to all secondary school students who are at least 16 years of age and have a G1 license (prior to February 28, 2011). Registration is open from January 17th - February 18th. First class starts March 2nd from 3:15pm to 6:00pm. (KW –Feb 18)

ST. PATRICK’S DAY VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are needed for the 29th annual Ottawa St Patrick's parade, March 12th, 2011, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm. See the volunteer clipboard in Student Services for more details. (KW –Feb 25)

RELAY FOR LIFE: Relay For Life is a 12-hour overnight, non-competitive event. This year it will take place Friday, June 10th at 7pm at the Nepean Sportsplex. Teams of 10 friends, family members or co-workers get together and run, walk, or stroll around a track as part of a relay for life team. Participants pitch tents. The tents serve as team's headquarters. Each participant pays a registration fee of $10 and is challenged to beat the $225 that each participant raised last year for the fight against cancer. 2011 BARRHAVEN RUN FOR ROGER’S HOUSE: The 2011 Barrhaven Run for Roger's House event will take place Saturday, June 11, 2011. Events include a 10k race (timed), 5k race (timed), 2.5k family run/walk and a tot trot. Returning for 2011 is the Reebok School Challenge. The school with the most registered supporters will receive $1,000 in Reebok merchandise. Online registration is now open at www.BarrhavenRun.ca. Register early. Volunteers are needed on race day. GRADS

GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:

· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by May 13^th, 2011.

GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 10, 2011.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Feb 11)

SCHOOL RING SALES – LAST CHANCE! A representative from Josten Rings will be here on Monday, February 14th and Tuesday, February 15th during senior lunch time in the atrium. This is your last chance to get a grad ring for this year. (KW –Feb 15)
