WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

clip_image002BUS PASSES: Bus passes will be issued to all students who have a spot on our school buses. It is important that all students who ride on a school bus carry their pass with them and have it available to show the driver upon request. (CB –Nov 5)

clip_image004ATTENTION MILITARY PARENTS & RELATIVES OF STUDENTS AT MOTHER TERESA: Any student who has a parent(s) or relative serving in the Canadian Armed Forces (army, air force or navy), police officer,  or RCMP is asked to invite their parent(s)/relative to our Remembrance Day Service on Thursday November 11th.  There will be two services, one at 9:00 am for students in grades 7, 8 and 9 and a second service at approximately 10:20 am for students in grade 10, 11 and 12.  All guests are invited to a reception in the school library following the second service. You are asked to arrive in uniform and to sit in the reserved seats at the front of the auditorium. Please see Mrs. Kathy Landry in the main office or Mme Jacqueline Kinloch in room 234 for an invitation. (JK –Nov 5)

clip_image006REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE -CADETS AT MOTHER TERESA: We are looking for students at MT who are involved in army, air or sea cadets to be a part of our service.  You'll be asked to wear your uniform and to assist with carrying a flag, marching, etc.  Please see Mme Milliard in Room 315.  Your presence is essential and most appreciated with this very important day. REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONIES – REHEARSAL: All students involved in the Remembrance Day Ceremony have to attend a rehearsal Tuesday, November 9th at 3:00 pm, on the stage.  Please talk with Madame Milliard in room 315 if you cannot attend it. (KM –Nov 9)

clip_image008THANK A SOLDIER: This year at Mother Teresa Catholic High School we are giving students and staff an opportunity to Thank a Soldier. Your donation of a toonie will go to the Royal Canadian Legion's Troop Morale Fund.  The funds raised will buy our soldiers currently serving in Afghanistan a Tim Horton's coffee and doughnut.  Anyone who donates a toonie will have the opportunity to sign a banner that will be displayed in the atrium and they will also have their name put into a draw for some great prizes. You can Thank a Soldier on Nov. 8, 9 and 10th in the atrium during high school and 7/8 lunch.  See Mme Kinloch if you have any questions. (JK –Nov 10)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

clip_image012IMPORTANT INFO FOR ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING THE “CITY LIGHTS” DANCE! 

  1. Doors open 6:45 pm. No one will be admitted early.  Entry at side of school ONLY.

  2. No re-entry allowed.  Once you leave, you cannot come back in.

  3. All students must have a student ID card, or a note from a VP.

  4. Guests must have a student ID card from their own school, and must arrive with their MT host.

  5. ALL BAGS will be searched.

  6. All coats and bags must be checked at the coat check for the entire dance.

  7. No access to lockers will be allowed.

  8. Doors close at 8:30 pm.  No one will be admitted after this time (unless previous arrangements were made).

We hope everyone has a great time at the dance! (Nov 5)

STUDENT CLUBS!  

  • The MSA - Muslim Students Association will meet this Friday, at lunch in the Chapel. (MD –Nov 5)

ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION POSTER/ESSAY CONTEST: Mother Teresa High School has a rich tradition of participating in the Royal Canadian Legion's poster, essay and poetry contest.   If any high school students are interested in putting in an entry, and are not doing this activity in class, please come to room 306 for an entry form.  Forms and literary or art work are due on November 11th.   It would be wonderful to have more high school students participate this year.   If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Birmingham in room 306 on Tuesday. SENIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: MANDATORY tryout on Friday November 5th after school. Gym to be announced later. Bring knee pads, water bottles and proper shoes/clothing. Team roster to be determined. (SS –Nov 5)

ILID MEETING: There is an "In Love and In Danger" meeting on Monday November 8th at lunch in the chapel. All new and returning members are welcome. (VW –Nov 8)

  • Grade 9 in room 301, Grade 10 in room 303, Grade 11 in room 317 and Grade 12 in room 322 (TS –Nov 10)

clip_image020OSEF FRANCE CANADA:  France-Canada Summer Exchange for students 13 to 17 years old.  Discover France, experience the French language and culture. In July, live with a French Family and in August host a French Student. Ontario students' cost of the exchange program is $2,550 per student which includes Toronto-France return airfare, departure taxes and transfers in France, Paris excursions (Tour Eiffel, Bateau Mouche), Paris hotel (1 night), parent/student orientation, Toronto visit (Niagara Falls, CN Tower), Toronto hotel - 1 night, screening, selection of and matching of exchange partners, hospitalization and repatriation insurance and administrative fees.  What is not included is supplementary medical insurance, personal spending money/passport fees, flight cancellation insurance and travel to departure city in Canada.  To obtain a preliminary application form please contact:  www.osef.ca. ·          URGENT – TUTOR REQUIRED for a grade 5 student who is from Egypt; his first language is Arabic.  This young man would need help in Language and Mathematics.  He attends St. Andrew Catholic School.  Please see Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services for more details. (KW –Nov 9)

·          clip_image024SALVATION ARMY - LF VOLUNTEERS!  The Salvation Army will be kicking off their 2010 Christmas Kettle campaign from November 18th through to December 24th.  Volunteers are asked that they attend the kettles in pairs for accountability reasons and give a minimum of two hours. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.  Dress is dark bottoms and light top and you can expect to stand for the duration of their shift - somewhere between 2 - 4 hours.  There is an application form to complete for those interested students.  See Mrs. Watkinson for more information or contact 613 241-1573 ext 320, or chris_penton@ottawaboothcentre.org. ·          URGENT REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS: Cancer Society and the Youth Living The Dream Beyond Our Borders are teamed up to make cancer history.  Please contact Sandra Louis-Jeune, National Coordinator at 613 946-2338 or 613 831-6432 or by email at livingthedream@rogers.com.

Raise funds for cancer research and services for people living with cancer by:

·         selling and delivering daffodils during the Daffodil Days

·         giving out postcards for Girls Night In Program

·         canvassing your street during the annual fundraising canvassing campaign

·         helping with In Honour, In Memoriam and bequest donations

The YLDBB exists to provide High School, College and University students of every race, religion and socio-economic background with meaningful opportunities for spiritual development, social interaction, and volunteering service to exceptional organizations. (KW –Nov 19)
