WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
PHOTO DAY: Wednesday Sept. 15th is school photo day. Every student should have their photo taken, whether they plan to purchase a package or not. This photo will be used for your student ID card (which will be needed for things like checking out library books!) and yearbook photo. If you are ordering photos, please bring your order form with payment, to the photographer when your class is called. If you are unable to be here for photo day, please hold on to your form until the retake day on October 13. (SD –Sep 15)
SCHOOL CHOIR: There will be a meeting on Thursday, September 16th at 11:30 in room 119 for all students (grades 7-12) interested in joining the school choir. (AC –Sep 16)
BATTLE OF THE GRADES: Wear your colour for the Terry Fox Run on Friday. Show your school spirit and support your grade! The colours for each are: Grade 12 – Black, Grade 11 – White, Grade 10 – Blue, Grade 9 – Red, Grade 8 – Green, Grade 7 – Yellow. Remember your donations for Friday as well! Bring a $1 on Friday morning for face painting in the atrium! (MM –Sep 17)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
HONK N’ BLOW: All grade 7 students are encouraged to attend this year’s Honk N’ Blow. This Wednesday evening (Sept 15) at 6pm, come and try all kinds of musical instruments. Remember, attending Honk N’ Blow will give you first choice of instruments in your music class! (IC –Sep 15)
7/8 GRADE LEVEL ASSEMBLIES: 7 & 8 grade level assemblies will take place as follows:
- Monday Sept 13th – Thursday Sept 16th, Periods 1 – 6, Classroom Visits (NM –Sep 16)
7/8 ATHLETIC COUNCIL: We are looking for any students interested in being part of the 7/8 Student Athletic Council. The Student Athletic Council schedules, organizes and referees the intramural games. Please see Mrs. Frias, Mr. Quinn or Mr. Nicoletti if you are interested. (CN –Sep 16)
7/8 INTRAMURAL DODGEBALL: Any 7/8 students interested in playing intramural dodgeball, please submit a team during your lunch. There will be a teacher sitting near the entrance of the cafeteria so that you can register. The cost for each team is $1 and you will need 7 participants. (CN –Sep 16)
GIRLS GAELIC FOOTBALL TRY-OUTS: Monday September 20th & Tuesday September 21st from 2:50 - 3:45. Meet in the C/D gym. (TF –Sep 20)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
NEW YORK CITY 2011: Any Grade 11 and 12 students interested in going to NYC in May 2011 are asked to attend a very important information meeting on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th 2010 in ROOM 136 at LUNCH. If you have any questions please see Mr. Rowley in Room 136. (MR –Sep 15)
STRATFORD 2010: Please see Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 for information regarding the October Stratford trip. Deadline is September 15. (JH – Sep 15)
CAPPIES: Do you like writing? Do you like school plays? There will be a Cappies information meeting in Rm 138 at lunch on Thursday, September 16. Find out how to have your student review published in the Ottawa Citizen! (JS –Sep 16)
SIGN UP FOR DODGEBALL TODAY! Look for the table in the atrium or the folders in the wood floor gym area to pick up a sign up sheet. Cost is $1 per player - Deadline Friday September 17. Any questions, see Mr. Prigent this week. (DP –Sep 17)
HS CROSS COUNTRY: Sign-up for the High School Cross Country team will take place at lunch, all week in room 305. We accept runners at all levels, so throw on a pair of running shoes and get running! Running will take place Thursday and Friday after school. There is also a mandatory meeting for all those interested in Cross Country on Monday September 13 at lunch in room 305. Practice schedules and contract forms will be handed out. (MG –Sep 17)
SAY IT OUT LOUD: MT's writing contest is accepting opinion essays for the month of September. Submissions are due to Rm 138 by September 30. See Mrs. Simpson for details. (JS –Sep 17)
THE BIG PULL: Mother Teresa Titans are the defending champions in the High School Division. This Tug of War competition takes place Saturday September 25 from 9 am to 3 pm. The cost is $25 and includes a t-shirt and lunch and fundraises for the Ottawa Mission. 10 Hours of Community Service are available for those wishing to sign up. Grade 11 and 12 students only. 9 RUN RUN: Mother Teresa's Emergency Response Focus Program is Supporting this Charity Run in Stittsville (from Sacred Heart High School) on Saturday October 23, 2010. YEARBOOK COURSE: We are still looking for a few good people to join the Yearbook course. This is a credit course that runs all year, so you have the opportunity to earn 9 credits this school year. You meet 2 mornings per week, (before school), and 1 lunch time per week. You will learn the many skills and software required to put together a fantastic school yearbook. Looks great on a Resume for anyone interested in a future career in the publishing industry. If you are interested see Mr. Hallarn in Student Services. (JH –Sep 22)
RING SALES: Looking to get a high school ring? We have good news for you. Jostens Rings will be back Monday, September 27th and Tuesday, September 28th during high school lunch to take your orders in the atrium. Check out the posters in the atrium. A deposit of $60.00 is required on the order days. Deposits can be cash, cheque (payable to JOSTENS), Visa, MC, or Amex. You can design your own ring at jostens.com. It’s so easy! (KW –Sep 28)

LOOKING FOR A TUTOR: Looking for responsible student who can help with tutoring a 7 yr old girl with: reading, writing, comprehension, French and some math. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY – ELECTION HELP: Get some serious volunteer hours in with the Step-Up-Campaign. Joe King is running in Barrhaven (Ward 3).
