WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
LUNCHTIME HELP NEEDED: Volunteers needed at senior lunch to put the food donation cooler out in the cafeteria. Two students from the 7 / 8 lunch are also needed to then bring the cooler to the tuck shop right after lunch. Please see Ms. Dougherty (Martha) in the chapel for more details. (MD –Oct 1)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
REACH FOR THE TOP STARTS UP! Any Grade 7 or 8 student is invited to come to an information meeting about REACH FOR THE TOP, which is a fast paced TRIVIA game in which you play on a team against other teams! If you are interested: To get all the details: please come with your lunch to Room 235 at the beginning of 7/8 lunch on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28! (TC –Sep 28)
7/8 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: There is a volleyball try out for girls in grade 7-8 on Tuesday Sept 28th and Thursday Sept 30th in the caf-gym. Try-out starts at 3:00pm and you should be picked up at 4:15pm. There are many girls trying out therefore there will be a second round of cuts on Thursday night from 3:00 pm until 4:15 pm pick up time. If you made the first round on Tuesday, you are joining us on Thursday. I would like to thank all girls for trying out as it takes courage. Best of luck to all of you, and see you Tuesday. Girls that missed the initial sign up are welcome to join us Tuesday after school! (EM –Sep 30)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
PEER HELPING: Attention to those who submitted applications for peer helping. The list of peer helpers will be posted by lunch today on the student services door. There will be a mandatory meeting for all peer helpers on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 1:40pm (period 4) in the multi-purpose room. Please be prompt. (MB –Sep 28)
RING SALES: Looking to get a high school ring? We have good news for you. Jostens Rings will be back Monday, September 27th and Tuesday, September 28th during high school lunch to take your orders in the atrium. Check out the posters in the atrium. A deposit of $60.00 is required on the order days. Deposits can be cash, cheque (payable to JOSTENS), Visa, MC, or Amex. You can design your own ring at jostens.com. It’s so easy! (KW –Sep 28)

VOLLEYBALL REFS NEEDED: Looking for High school students to referee junior 7-8 girls volley-ball games. Must be comfortable with the game (know the rules, etc.) This can be counted towards your volunteer hours or you can be paid for your time. If interested please contact Mlle McMurchy in room 233 for further information before classes start (8am- 8:30am). (EM –Sep 30)
CAPPIES: Congratulations to this year's group of Cappies. The list is posted on the door of Rm 138. Thank you to everyone who came to the first meeting and expressed an interest in writing for Cappies. The training session is scheduled for October 18 (Lead Critic on Oct. 5). Please pick up a permission form in Rm 138 and bring it to our first meeting at lunch on Thursday, September 30 in Rm 138. (JS –Sep 30)

CALLING ALL BUSKERS: The school board is looking for student buskers to perform at a conference at the Centurion Conference Centre, Thursday, November 4th. The performances will be for short periods (30-60 minutes) throughout the day, primarily before and after the conference and at nutrition breaks. You will be asked to stay for half of the day. If you have a talent you want to share, please write up a short description and see Ms. Stuart in room 102 for more details. (CS –Oct 4)

UNIVERSITY FAIRS: John McCrae Secondary School, 103 Malvern Drive, Nepean is hosting the Ontario University and Atlantic University Fair in the Food Court on the 2nd Floor. All 21 Ontario Universities and 16 Atlantic Universities will be present at the Fair.

- ONTARIO UNIVERSITY FAIR IS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19TH FROM 9:30 AM TO 11:00 AM

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Don't forget to check out the volunteer opportunities in Student Services.Opportunities include: Blast off to Wellness, a Family fun Day at Confederation High School on Oct 2nd. CNIB is looking for ongoing volunteers. FIT4KIDS are looking for after school help. If you are interested in careers as a paramedic MEDVENTS is recruiting on Sept 29th. There are many more. HOCKEY TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The NMHA is looking for student volunteers who need community service hours to help with a Hockey Tournament running over Thanksgiving weekend at Walter Baker Sports Centre, October 8th to 11th. FRENCH TUTOR NEEDED: Looking for a french tutor for a boy in Grade 3 attending Berrigan French Immersion Program. PROM COMMITTEE: The very first PROM COMMITTEE meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, September 29 in room 202 at lunch. All grade 12's are welcome (guys too!). Bring your ideas for the overall theme. If for some reason you can't make the first meeting please see Mrs. Zivkovic or Miss. Pipkins. (FZ –Sept 29)
GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:
· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by May 13th, 2011.
- GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 10, 2011.
Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Sep 30)
