WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS: The Support Our Troops banner has graced the atrium wall since early November. As a school we came together to show our support for our troops and their families by signing the banner and displaying it in our atrium. The banner will be making the trip to Kandahar, Afghanistan this month with a Canadian soldier where it will be displayed at Canada House, a meeting place on the Kandahar Air Field for Canadian troops. Canadian Troops in Afghanistan will be able to read the signatures of the Mother Teresa students and feel our support. Thank you! (JK –Jun 3)

SPIRIT WEEK!! May 31 to June 4 is the final Spirit Week of the year - and it is VERSUS week. Each day you get to choose the way you will dress! Monday - Peace & Love Vs. Rock'n Roll, Tuesday: G's Vs. Gents, Wednesday: Battle of the Grades (Gr. 12 - White, Gr. 11 - Blue, Gr. 10 - Red, Gr. 9 - Green, Gr. 8 - Purple, Gr. 7 - Yellow), Thursday: Nerds Vs. Jocks, Friday: Country Vs. Hip Hop. Show your MT spirit and dress up! (NR –Jun 4)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

BOYS SOFTBALL: 7/8 Boys Softball try-outs will continue this week on Wednesday, June 2nd and Thursday, June 3rd from 3:15 to 4:15 at the diamond across the street. (KS –Jun 3)

YOUTH MINISTRY MEETING: Would all members of the Youth Ministry please meet on Thursday June 3rd, at HS lunch, in the chapel. (DH –Jun 3)

MOTHER TERESA ATHLETIC BANQUET – MONDAY JUNE 7TH: Athletes and their guests are invited to attend Mother Teresa’s Athletic Banquet on Monday June 7th. Dinner is in the Atrium at 6:30 and the awards ceremony follows in the Cafeteria Gym at 7:30 PM. Tickets are FREE for all Athletes who played on varsity teams this year AND have paid their Athletic fees. Tickets are available for pick up in the Atrium at LUNCH June 1st to 3rd. Only students with tickets will be admitted! Athletes are invited to bring a student as a guest to the dinner for $13.00. Guest tickets can also be purchased in the Atrium at lunch June 1st to 3rd, for a charge of $13, which includes a Boston Pizza dinner. Show your TITAN athletic spirit and come out to the banquet. ATHLETIC BANQUET SLIDE SHOW: IF you were involved with a Mother Teresa Sport this season (coach or player) and you have pictures you would like included in the end of year banquet slideshow, please submit them to Mr. Prigent by June 4. We would like to represent ALL our athletes. (DP –Jun 4)

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – BERRIGAN BBQ: Volunteers required for Berrigan Elementary School BBQ on Thursday, June 10th. Requesting 15-20 students to run carnival-type games (indoors and out) for children in Grades JK - 6. Volunteer Coordinator Meeting is Wednesday, June 9th in the foyer of Berrigan Elementary School. “SKILLS FOR LIFE” is a new camp offered by CBIT Canadian Beaver Training that seeks to help teenagers from 13 to 17 year of age to develop the skills they need for the life they want. These skills include speed reading, computer skills, increased memory, better interpersonal skills, budgeting, investing and strategies to increase productivity amongst others. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT ST. ANDREW: St. Andrew Parent Council is organizing the Year End Event at the school on June 17th, 2010 (Thursday) @ 5:00 - 8:00 pm. They are looking for 17 students interested in getting their volunteer hours done. (We would like to have 2 or 3 students who are good at art who would be responsible for face painting.) NEED A SUMMER JOB, TUTORING, $10/HR, POSSIBILITY TO INCREASE? Looking for a mature, energetic and enthusiastic tutor to work with an 11 year old high functioning autistic boy to improve his reading and writing skills and to develop his social and conversational skills. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: High School students: Do you need to fill your school requirements of 40 hours of volunteering? Looking for a fun, festive place to volunteer? The Canada Day Arts Festival will run from June 30 through July 4. We have 2 locations: Queen Juliana Park near Preston and Carling, and Andrew Haydon Park in Nepean. There will be a midway, petting zoo, pony rides, food concessions, face painting, balloons, and a stage with various performers. On July 1, we have a fireworks show at Andrew Haydon Park over the Ottawa River. Volunteers are needed between 11 AM and 8 PM; June 30 to July 4. Possible duties include giving directions and offering assistance to patrons, putting up posters, delivering and/or handing out brochures, helping vendors and musicians with small tasks, and others. ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS: St. Anthony’s Church will be holding their annual Feast Day celebrations the weekend of Saturday, June 12th and Sunday, June 13th. This weekend culminates with the holy procession through the streets of Little Italy on the Sunday. Other activities include a barbeque, pasta feast and musical concerts. Volunteers would be involved in serving, manning barricades and other assorted duties. Community service hours would be given for any student who so requires. clip_image008GRADUATION CEREMONY TICKESTS CAN NOW BE PICKED UP IN STUDENT SERVICES: Guests will need these tickets in order to enter the Grad Ceremony. Students that requested extra tickets will receive a maximum of 2 extra tickets. The Graduation Ceremony takes place at 1:00pm on Thursday June 24 in the cafetorium. (JH –Jun 23)
