HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS: The election is taking place this morning during homeroom. Students are to complete only one (1) ballot. Carefully read whether you are selecting one person or two. DO NOT write in additional candidate names - this is a waste of your vote! All voting must be completed by the end of high school period 1. Election results will be announced as soon as they are finalized. Good luck to all candidates!! (NR –May 10)
KNITTING CLUB: The knitting club will meet during HS lunch today in the library seminar room. New members are always welcome. Come learn how to knit your own scarf, hat and mittens! We have extra supplies on hand to help you get started. (AH –May 10)
YEARBOOK: Attention yearbook students! The last set of yearbook proofs have arrived. Please come by room 103 after school today if you'd like to review them. This will be your only chance, since the proofs will be sent back to Friesens on Tuesday. (AH –May 10)
OUTDOOR CLUB: Could all the members of the outdoor club meet in room 103 Monday at 12:00 pm. We will discuss the last activity of the year. (MF –May 10)
GIRL’S BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Any girls interested in beach volleyball, please see Ms Soprovich in Rm 209 on Monday May 10th at lunch for details. (SS –May 10)
STAND UP TO BULLYING: The Stand Up to Bullying squad will meet in the Career Centre on Monday, May 10th at 11:45 to finalize the St. Andrew’s retreat day on May 18th. Please bring your activities if you haven't already done so. (TC –May 10)
PEER HELPERS: There will be a Peer Helping meeting in Rm.134 at lunch on Tuesday. (VW –May 11)
STUDENT SERVICES
VOLUNTEER GARDENER NEEDED: Anyone interested in doing some gardening for volunteer hours? You will be assisting with weeding at Berrigan School. Please see Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services for more information. (KW –May12)
ADOPT A GRANDPARENT and get community service hours for yard cleaning. If interested, please contact Claire Grosskleg during the day at 613 7334-8155. (KW –May 14)
COME AND GET THEM – COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS, THAT IS! It's Faces of A.C.E.S. - year-end BBQ bash at Adrienne Clarkson Elementary School, on Thursday, June 17th between 5pm - 8pm. Volunteers needed to assist with handing out food, taking tickets, running games, face painting, set up and take down. See binder in Student Services. (KW –May 14)
ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS: St. Anthony’s Church will be holding their annual Feast Day celebrations the weekend of Saturday, June 12th and Sunday, June 13th. This weekend culminates with the holy procession through the streets of Little Italy on the Sunday. Other activities include a barbeque, pasta feast and musical concerts. Volunteers would be involved in serving, manning barricades and other assorted duties. Community service hours would be given for any student who so requires. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED –RACE WEEKEND: May 29-30, 2010 Ottawa's Race Weekend! Volunteers are needed to work at the Sweat Check, water stations, information booths and more. For more information go to www.runottawa.com. (MP –May 21)
DRIVER EDUCATION – SUMMER 2010: Registration forms now available in Student Services. Registration runs from May 4th to June 16th. Sign-up quickly as class sizes are limited! (KW –May 28)

- Summer School forms for the Catholic Board are available in Student Services or can be accessed at: http://continuingeducation.ottawacatholicschools.ca/

(Note Summer School will be offered at LDHS.)

GRADS
MOTHER TERESA SCHOOL LETTER: Every year at the Graduation Mass a select number of graduates are awarded the prestigious school letter. The school letter is an award that recognizes outstanding contributions made to the MT Community over your years as a student. To be eligible, graduates must submit the application by Monday May 10. The criteria and applications are available in Student Services. (JH –May 10)
ATTENTION GRADUATES – PARENT COUNCIL BURSARY:
- The Parent Council of Mother Teresa High School is offering an award of $250 to both a male and female graduate. Applications are now available at Student Services.
- Applications are still being accepted for the following bursaries and are to be submitted to Student Services by Tuesday, May 18, 2010
- The Archbishop’s Award for Catholic Leadership ($500)
- The Director of Education Graduate Student Award ($1000)
- Sylvester Quinn Memorial Award ($1000)
- Msgr. Paul Baxter Memorial Scholarship ($1500)
- ****All but the Baxter Scholarship are guaranteed to be awarded to Mother Teresa graduates. There are a total of six Baxter scholarships for graduates in the Board’s 14 secondary schools. (RB –May 14)
GRADUATION CEREMONY TICKETS: Each graduate will be given 2 tickets for family to attend the Graduation Ceremony on June 24. To request more than two tickets students must sign up in Student
Services from Monday May 3 to Friday May 21. This does not guarantee you will receive the extra number of tickets requested. Tickets will be distributed starting Tuesday June 1. (JH –May 21)
