WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
DO YOU PICK UP A SIBLING AT, OR PASS BY ST. LUKE SCHOOL? Reminder to all students who are picking up siblings at St. Luke, or who go home and pass by their school yard: the basketball nets are off limits and should not be used by our students at all. (CB –Mar 10)
CANNED FOOD DRIVE: ATTENTION TITANS!! We still have a long way to go before we reach our goal of 10,000 cans. So...we are extending our drive until Wednesday March 10, 2010. Bring in your non-perishables ASAP. Homeroom and individual challenges have been made! Remember that there are prizes for the homerooms that bring in the most cans per student. Happy Canning!! YOGA: Next Yoga session will run March 2nd to the 29th Tuesdays & Thursdays (no classes during March break). $61.00 for the month or $10.00 to drop in. Registration and payment can be done just before start of class in the studio. (JR –Mar 12)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
7/8 BOYS HOCKEY: Tryouts for the team will take place the week of March 22-26. Sign up sheets are posted outside the Phys Ed offices near the Caf gym. Please carefully read all info re: tryout dates and times. Players will need to arrange for their own transportation to, and from the arena. (MM –Mar 12)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
TRACK AND FIELD: All high school students who have signed up for the Track and Field team must attend an important meeting TODAY, Tuesday at the beginning of lunch in Room 305. That is, all students who signed up for track and field MUST attend the meeting today at the beginning of lunch in order to participate in this year’s season. (MG –Mar 9)
PEER HELPERS: There will be a Peer Helping meeting in Rm. 134 at lunch on Tuesday. (VW –Mar 9)
NEW YORK CITY TRIP: Important reminder for any students attending the New York City Trip in May: the final payment of $300.00 is due Friday, March 12th. Please submit a post-dated cheque or cash as soon as possible to Mrs. Bell-Dagenais (Room 135). Proof of insurance/passport can be provided after this date, but the money is needed by the 12th. Finally, a student can no longer attend the trip, so if you are interested in taking his place, please see Mr. Rowley or Mrs. Bell-Dagenais for more information. (NBD –Mar 9)
24 HOUR FAST: Get involved - April 16-17. Come to a meeting to pick up an application and find out more. Wednesday at lunch in the Chapel. (DH –Mar 10)
YEARBOOK: Attention yearbook students! There are still some pages that need to be finished before our last deadline. If you are able to help with these pages, please come to a meeting after school in room 103 on Tues. Mar 9, and/or Wed. Mar.10. We have also received another set of proofs - make sure you attend the meetings if you'd like to look them over! (AH –Mar 10)
HIGH SCHOOL BADMINTON TEAM: Tryouts for the High School Badminton team will take place this week after school in the Caf gym.
Senior aged players (born in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993) will try out on Monday, March 8 at 3:15 p.m.
Junior aged players (born in 1994, 1995, and 1996) will try out on Wednesday, March 10 at 3:15 p.m.
All interested players must attend. Players must be changed and ready to start at 3:15 sharp. (JL –Mar 10)
SHAKIN’ IT WITH SHAKESPEARE: The English classes will be gearing up for this contest in April. Check out the BARD TROPHY in the first floor trophy case. You just might see your name engraved on it! (JS –Mar 12)
STUDENT SERVICES 
SUMMER SCHOOL: Information about Summer School at the Ottawa Catholic School Board and what format it will follow will be announced in the first week of April. (JH –Mar 12)
UNIVERSITY OPEN HOUSE: The University of Ottawa is hosting its Spring Open House on Friday, March 19, 2010! This is a chance for future students and their parents to get to know our campus and learn more about important aspects of academic life. VOLUNTEER AT QUEENSWAY CARLETON HOSPITAL: Become a volunteer at the Queensway Carleton Hospital during July and August. Requirements for becoming a student volunteer are: must be 15 years of age by December 31, 2010 and have completed grade 9 by this summer. You will need to attend an information session by April 9th. Pick from the following dates: March 3, 15, 18, 23; April 7. Most sessions start at 6 pm. See volunteer binder in Student Services for more information. (KW –Mar 12)

UNIVERSITY APPLICATIONS: 1st semester marks have been sent to the universities. It is important for the applicants to log onto OUAC and verify the academic information is accurate. See your counsellor if there are any concerns. (JH –Mar 12)
