ATTENTION GRADE 8 STUDENTS: Tickets for the second annual Grade 8 Semi Formal Dinner & Dance will be on sale June 1st - June 5th. Bring your permission form and money to the table outside the cafeteria. Grade 8 Band students are reminded to purchase their ticket BEFORE the band trip as tickets will not be available for purchase after June 5th. SUMMER SCHOOL GRADE 7 & 8 -OTTAWA CARLETON DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD – NEW CHANGES:
A. Two remedial language arts for ELL students will be offered.
B. Two grade 9 math preparation classes intended for students achieving at level 3 but who may require additional support to prepare for the grade 9 academic program will be offered at Sir Robert Borden HS and Sir Wilfrid Laurier SS.
C. New explicit curriculums have been developed for the remedial literacy and numeracy program.

IT’S BACK! THE FERRARI FESTIVAL: June 19th-21st. Looking for student volunteers to work 3-hour shifts on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday morning. You can sign up for more than one shift. T-shirts and caps are provided. Bring your community service hour sheets to be filled in. LOOKING FOR BARBEQUE VOLUNTEERS: The Adrienne Clarkson Elementary School Parent Council is holding their 7th annual "Faces of ACES" Barbeque on Tuesday, June 09, 2009 (rain or shine!), from 5:00 - 7:30. We are very interested in having students help us out with this event, giving them the opportunity to earn community involvement hours towards their high school graduation. Examples of work the volunteers could be assigned include the supervision of games and activities during the BBQ and handing out food. Students can volunteer for part or all of the BBQ. MOTHER TERESA 8TH ANNUAL EUROPEAN ENRICHMENT TRIP: Spain – Morocco – Portugal. Together with six other schools in our Board, we will travel to Spain and be immersed in Spanish culture. The tour includes: Madrid, the centre of the Golden Age of Spain, Seville, Andalusi, the meeting point of Spanish and African/Islamic culture, Alhambra in Granada, Costa Del Sol, an excursion to Morocco, and finally, Lisbon, Portugal. The 11 day tour leaves on Monday March 29, 2010 from Ottawa and returns Thursday April 8, 2010. Students currently in grades 8-11 are eligible to apply to participate in this experience. The tour includes: Madrid, the centre of the Golden Age of Spain, Seville, Andalusi, the meeting point of Spanish and African/Islamic culture, Alhambra in Granada, Costa Del Sol, an excursion to Morocco, and finally, Lisbon, Portugal. The 11 day tour leaves on Monday March 29, 2010 from Ottawa and returns Thursday April 8, 2010. Students currently in grades 8-11 are eligible to apply to participate in this experience. MARINE BIOLOGY TRIP 09: There will be a very important but quick meeting at the start of lunch in room 202 Monday, May 11 for all students interested in going on the marine biology trip to St. Andrew NB located on the beautiful Bay of Fundy. Don't miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with marine life, from tiny sea urchins to the enormous and endangered Right Whale. Bring in non-perishable food items to your homeroom next week. For every 2 items you will get 1 ticket. The more you bring in, the more tickets (and food) you will get. The tour includes: Madrid, the centre of the Golden Age of Spain, Seville, Andalusi, the meeting point of Spanish and African/Islamic culture, Alhambra in Granada, Costa Del Sol, an excursion to Morocco, and finally, Lisbon, Portugal. The 11 day tour leaves on Monday March 29, 2010 from Ottawa and returns Thursday April 8, 2010. Students currently in grades 8-11 are eligible to apply to participate in this experience.
